Ms. Spencer has a strong background in the marching arts: As a performer, she spent five years performing with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, helping the corps win their first championship, and receive bronze and silver Wold Class Finalist medals as a lead player and soloist. Additionally, she has worked as a brass instructor for the Madison Scouts and the Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets. As a freelancing musician, she teaches private brass and marching visual lessons, as well as master classes for brass players and jazz bands. In Ohio, she taught several high school marching bands and small ensembles, and is fortunate to have a growing trumpet studio in the Austin area.

Currently, Ms. Spencer is completing her Master’s of Music in Music in Human Learning at the University of Texas at Austin, where she is a teaching assistant for the Longhorn Band, Longhorn Pep Band, and Longhorn Jazz Ensemble. Her professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association and Jazz Education Network.
